Working with the second graders was a blast! I really enjoyed helping the kids on how to use Google Earth; I learned a lot from this experience on how to interact with younger kids. At first I was a bit nervous because I wasn't really sure how to talk to the kids or how to act around them but I started to become comfortable when they smiled at me and talked to me. They were really friendly and gave us smiles and high fives; they also sang for us in the beginning about the seven continents. For Google Earth, I was paired up with two little boys named Julio and Vivien; they were Brazilian and Belgian, they spoke Spanish, Portuguese, and French. They were really nice to me and I think we really clicked; they seemed very interested with using Google Earth and they worked very productively. After working, we had a break and ate together; they offered me food and they talked to me in a foreign language. Then it was time to say goodbye and they gave me high fives and smiles; I would really like to do it again sometime, this experience was such a good one!

I'm happy you enjoyed your experience! We both felt the same way going into that activity..hahah. Kids aren't so scary after all.
ReplyDeleteI was paired up with Julio as well! He seems to be a nice and bright kid.
